Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

Much of the Filipino dishes that has Asian influence to it come from the Chinese cuisine. There aren’t that many Japanese dishes that you can find, except in Japanese restaurants, of course. One of the most popular Japanese dishes that other countries have also adapted is the Teriyaki Chicken or Chicken Teriyaki. This cooking method involves grilling or broiling fish and then brushing it with a special sauce. This sauce is usually made from mirin (sweet cooking wine), soy sauce, sake (liquor from fermented wine) and sugar or honey

Aside from fish, other countries also use other meat products like pork, beef, lamb and chicken. The teriyaki sauce can practically complement any type of fish and meat product.

The Teriyaki Chicken has found its way into the palates of the Filipinos because it is easy to prepare and the taste is quite unique with its tinge of sweetness. If you can’t find some of the ingredients and for convenience, you can use bottled teriyaki sauce which are sold in supermarkets. The best chicken part for this dish is either the thigh or the legs with the skin on.

In this recipe, the chicken is grilled instead of frying it. The grilling adds a little smoky flavor which further enhances the taste of the dish.
