Healthy Pinoy Soup

Bulanglang   is perhaps the healthiest Filipino dish or soup mainly because it is made of different nutritious vegetables. This dish is very common in Batangas and Cavite.

Coming from the southern part of the Philippines, my mother never failed to make this healthy soup. I can still remember my grandmother back home in Negros Occidental cooking this soup too. It is very nutritious and yummy too!

Bulanglang Filipino Recipe Ingredients:

1/4 pound lean pork (sliced small pieces)
2 eggplant; sliced
15 pieces green beans
2 cups sliced squash or calabaza
2 sliced tomatoes;
1 ampalaya (bittermelon); sliced slanting
10 okra
3 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
1 onion, sliced
3 tbsp bagoong na alamang (shrimp paste)
salt and pepper to taste
1 ginger
1 cup of water
cooking oil

Bulanglang Cooking Direction:

1. Sautee' together the garlic, onion and ginger;
2. Add the bagoong, continue to sautee';
3. Add water and bring to boil;
4. Add the green beans, calabaza or squash; bring it to boil;
5. After 3 minutes add the okra, ampalaya and the talong;
6. Add more water if needed;
7. Add salt and pepper to taste;
8. Serve with white rice and maybe with fried galunggong!
